The Mystery of Chateau Beaumont was inspired by a story I’d read about an abandoned chateau, an idea that had been on the back burner for years, along with a mystery taking place on a secluded island; The Vanishing.
After seeing some lovely pictures of the Catskill Mountains, the idea for The Retreat happened, and I realized I had the makings of a good trilogy — The Triquetra Series — with one mystery leading to another.

The Everdons took me rather unaware, leading me to create this Contemporary Gothic series. With all the subtleties of the traditional Gothic genre, including ghosts, curses and Victorian mansions, the story is set in modern times and deals with current issues as well as the past.
While many families conceal their forebears’ indiscretions, the Everdons have more than most to hide. Living lives of duty and sacrifice, they hope to one day be set free, if their secrets don’t kill them first.
The story follows Emma, the last of the family line, as she struggles to come out from under the shadow of the Everdon Curse.
I had intended The Secret of Everdon Manor to be a standalone novel, but readers started asking — what happens after? So, here is how it unfolded as a four-book series.

As a child, I enjoyed playing in the cemetery near my grandmother’s house. Maybe the silence drew me there, or the ambience within the stone walls surrounding the canting gravestones. Whatever the reason, I still enjoy meandering among the worn headstones and speculating on those lying beneath my feet.
As a teen, I devoured Gothic novels, losing myself in desolate mansions populated by dysfunctional residents, both living and passed. I still enjoy a good, dark thrill.
The Gothika Series is my contribution to the genre. Unexpected circumstances, characters who aren’t necessarily who they appear to be, some deeply flawed, and disturbing secrets come to light as the heroine struggles to overcome the situation she has found herself in.
At times, she questions her own sanity. After all, what can be more frightening — that which you can see, or what you can’t?
